Hibiscus-Infused Whiskey
Hibiscus-Infused Whiskey is one of my new favorite concoctions to sip on. This recipe is an example of what I love most about experimenting with edible flowers...
First of all, the color that hibiscus adds to the whiskey alone is absolutely stunning. Second, this couldn't be easier to make and is just as tasty as can be. Hibiscus adds a slight sweetness as well as a tanginess to everyday rye whiskey.
Hibiscus-Infused Whiskey
Ingredients:
10 oz rye whiskey
1/4 cup organic dried hibiscus flowers
Ice for serving
Maraschino Cherry for Garnish (these are my favorite)
Directions:
Simply add whiskey and hibiscus to a large glass jar (such as a ball jar), stir and allow to steep (covered) for 30 minutes. Strain into a vessel of your choice and store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 6 months.
To serve, fill a tumbler with a handful of ice. Pour in 2 oz of infused whiskey for each serving. Garnish with a maraschino cherry if using. Cheers!
Use this lovely whiskey in my favorite whiskey cocktail recipes...
