Boysenberries have become a favorite in the Tartelette household and we become so giddy when they appear at the farmers' market this time of year. They are perfectly tarte and sweet!
Rose Boysenberry Lemon Cocktail
For each cocktail…
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons rose simple syrup (recipe below)
3 tablespoons fresh-squeezed lemon juice
2 ounces vodka (this cocktail is also delicious with whiskey)
Handful of ice
5 fresh boysenberries, mashed
Directions:
Place simple syrup, lemon juice, vodka, boysenberries and ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously. Strain into a cocktail glass of your choice. You can also serve over ice. Garnish with a berry or a fresh organic rose.
Rose Simple Syrup
Ingredients:
1/2 cup fresh organic rose petals or 2 Tbsp organic dried rose petals
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup filtered water
Directions:
Place roses, sugar, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Allow to simmer until the sugar has completely dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Strain. Store the syrup in a ball jar in the fridge…use within one week.
